Interior: Beautiful brown tones everywhere. Although the shop is new, it feels like it has been a staple in the neighborhood for years. Coffee memorabilia decorates the walls and steaming coffee cups are carved into the backs of the chairs.

Music: Contemporary music from a local radio station.

Coffee sampled: Costa Rican Fair Trade

Offerings: Coffee, Espresso beverages, beer, wine, sandwiches, salads, soup, tea, and soda.

Unique Drinks: David and Goliath (coffee, steamed milk, Starbucks coffee liqueur)

Interior: Very nice place to relax. Wooden interior gives you the feeling of being in a European pub. French beer posters on the walls add to the old world charm. On one side there is a long, comfy bench with wooden tables, with more tables in the center and at the front of the shop. The tables are placed far enough apart that you don't feel crowded. There are seats at the bar as well. The windows on the front doors let in lots of light. In the summer, these doors are open and you can sit and watch life go by.

Music: Bob Marley live

Clientele: Multiethnic crowd. From young students with laptops to couples having a romantic moment and people sitting alone enjoying a book.

Barista: Young lady with a great bob. Knew all the regulars.

Extras: Full bar, bookshelf, open storefront in summertime, pretty paper lanterns that hang over the bar.

Notes: The only annoying factor is that you have to go the bar to get a code for the bathroom lock keypad.

Offerings: Pastries in the A.M. coffee, espresso beverages. Soup, sandwiches, desserts in the afternoon.

Unique Drinks: Vietnamese Iced Coffee, dark roasted coffee mixed with chicory and sweetened condensed milk. Thai Iced Tea, spiced black tea mixed with sweetened, condensed milk.

Special treats: Mississippi Mud Bar, Reeses Peanut Butter Bar

Interior: Window seat in the front as well as a bench out front for people watching. Wooden tables inside as well as a comfy couch and coffee table for ultimate relaxation. Books and magazines throughout the cafe for your reading enjoyment. Artwork on the wall by local artists makes the place feel like it is truly for the people.

Music: Chosen by the barista on shift. 80's pop, Bob Marley, PJ Harvey, you name it.

Clientele: Wide demographic. working professionals as well as stay at home moms (and dads!). Teens, senior citizens, and every age in between.

Free WiFi: Yes

Credit Cards: Coming soon (by now, probably a yes.)

Barista: Me, for one, I used to work here. A mix of artists-actors, writers, dancers.

Extras: Full City Book Club-take a book from the library and leave one in its place, simple as that. Artwork on the wall that is for sale.

Notes: The brie and avocado sandwich rocks!

Indian-themed espresso and dessert shop

Coffee Of The Day: Tres Santos, Colombian

Offerings: Assorted pastries. Espresso beverages, tea, beer and wine. Coffee by the pound.

Unique Drinks: Specialty lattes including the White Lotus, Ghiradelli white chocolate and raspberry and the Shiva, Ghiradelli chocolate and peppermint.

Spacial Treats: Red Velvet cupcake

Interior: Indian motif with warm colors. Magenta and white walls with maroon velvet tapestries and sheer gold and pink curtains create a doorway to the espresso bar. Colorful artwork is displayed on the wall. Space is filled with large, comfy couches and chairs as well as high wooden tables. Although the place is relatively small, it feels roomy because of the placement of the furniture.

Music: Mix of eclectic lounge music reminiscent of the Thievery Corporation.

Clientele: Young, 30-something crowd.

Credit Cards: Yes, $5.00 minimum.

Barista: Friendly, blond young man. Apologized for giving me five singles when he ran out of five dollar bills. Asked if I liked the coffee when I brought my empty cup to the counter.

Extras: Magazine rack with current issues to read. Outdoor patio in the back. Small bench in front of the store. Cafe Sutra also caters private parties and events.

Notes: The coffee only got four stars because I'm not a big fan of Latin American coffees. I prefer Indonesian and African coffees.
